Our school’s main event hall hosted concerts, theatre productions, choir performances and other major school events, but an outdated technical setup meant the lighting rig had to be rebuilt and adjusted manually before every event. When the supervising teacher stepped down and no replacement was found, I took over operational responsibility for the student technical team.
I presented the problem to the school’s leadership and proposed a comprehensive modernization of the venue. Together with the school, I supported a fundraising initiative that secured €250,000 in donations and municipal funding, then helped plan and coordinate the renovation as project lead, working alongside professional contractors on new lighting, sound and rigging systems as well as improved operational processes.
The new infrastructure let the student team prepare and support events faster, more safely and at a significantly higher technical standard, giving the venue a more efficient and reliable foundation for future school events.
